Muswell Hill House

Location: Muswell Hill, Haringey

A family required upgrading their home to provide space sufficient for the extended family moving in, increased working from home, a secluded master bedroom and spatial improvements to the rear of the house involving better visual and physical connection to the garden.

The property located within the Muswell Hill Conservation Area, involved a number of interventions at each floor level. New basement space was increased to create a 2 bed living accommodation flexible enough to be a self contained flat, whilst also allowing space for a multi use gym space and laundry room.


A new lower ground rear extension with vaulted ceiling aims to bring much improved natural daylight into a reconfigured open plan kitchen with walk-in larder and a new dining space which improves access and visual connections to the patio space and garden. The new patio, as well as providing an extension of the dining space, is designed to mediate and tie together the large level changes between the dining room, garden area and basement bedroom plus reinstates an ornamental fruit tree which requires removal as part of the works.

The loft space was designed to provide a new master bedroom and en-suite bathroom with a panoramic view to across rear gardens spaces and aims to be a special, quiet, and self-contained private space away from the rest of the house.
